Kintamani is a cool highland region in central Bali built around the caldera of Mount Batur, an active volcano rising above a crescent crater lake. The views from the rim are some of the most dramatic on the island.
It is a popular day trip and sunrise-trek destination from Ubud and the south, often combined with coffee plantations, Tirta Empul and the rice terraces.
Bali has two seasons — a dry season from April to October and a wetter season from November to March. The dry months are sunny, less humid and ideal for beaches, temples and island trips; the wet season still has plenty of sunshine between short, heavy afternoon showers.

There are limited direct flights from India, but smooth 1-stop connections via Singapore, Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok. Total travel time is typically 8–12 hours including the layover. Indian food is easy to find in South Bali — Kuta, Legian, Seminyak, Sanur and Ubud all have good Indian restaurants, with vegetarian, Jain (on request) and halal options.
A sarong and sash are needed to enter temples (usually provided or rented at the gate), and shoulders and knees should be covered.
